Ground rain garden, or gardens for water
They collect water from the surface of streets, sidewalks, roofs or parking lots. Thanks to this, instead of disappearing into the cavities of the underground sewage network, rainwater can irrigate plants. These reciprocate by cleaning it of various types of impurities – e. g. heavy metals, nitrogen or phosphorus.
How does it work?
- During rainfall, also very intense, water flows from higher sealed areas (e. g. streets) and is then captured into specially designed basins planted with plants.
- When the basins are completely filled, the excess water will be collected via an underground network or poured into another green area.
