I've got it in. . . bowl!
A retention basin is a gentle depression in the area where rainwater temporarily accumulates. Slowly soaking into the soil, it irrigates the plants and the soil. It is worth sowing the basin with an April meadow, which collects water much more effectively than a lawn, and for this it does not require watering and is mowed only 1-2 times a year.
Basin with April Meadow:
- supports biodiversity (e. g. provides food and shelter for pollinators)
- stops dust and debris
- acts as a natural filter that purifies accumulated water
retention = accumulation of water
infiltration = infiltration of water into the substrate and groundwater supply
transpiration = evaporation of water from above ground parts of plants
phytoremediation = groundwater treatment
– these are processes that take place in the retention basin, also in the context of water circulation.
